More nightlights

So the last nightlight worked okay but I didn’t love the warmth of the CCT as much as I thought I would. The output however was in the range of acceptable, just enough light to change a diaper but not so much it wakes everyone up.

Given my love of Fresnel lenses I decided to package things in a baby lamp and have both a white output and a red output. I chose a high CRI ~2700K COB (because that’s what I had around) and a 660nm for the nice deep red light. Both of these are running through a small 30mA driver and the wattage to both outputs is well under a quarter watt so thermal management isn’t a thing. This is why the LEDs are just stuck to the housing or free in the air with no thermal regard.

Optical management is also a non issue in this application as I was just going for a general diffused output. I painted the inside of the lamp white to add a few more bounces to the light before it left the lens. Overall the white source has a tighter spot since the LES is smaller than the 4 red LEDs but again it doesn’t matter when it is just shining up and bouncing off the ceiling.

Using a simple set of SPDT switches the light can be turn on and off and select color but not both at the same time. So far this design has been nice with no major issues, I think next time I would mount the switches somewhere else but it’s plenty workable.
